new memories.

this past weekend, i made the trek out from new york city back out to the hamptons. there was a family in town from japan, and i was asked to show them around a little bit. i was a little nervous about what to do as the daughter, an adorable ten year old, might get bored doing something too "adult." the family actually had asked to go to the local carnival- something that does not exist in japan. it was exciting to see her face in awe of the flashing lights, the crowds and the fun rides.

so this past weekend was full of clouds and rain. it figures that today [monday] is absolutely beautiful. nonetheless, i had a great weekend- full of family, baking, and the olympics. i went with my family to costco for some good ol' american shopping. we also swung by my grandmother's house to make her dinner. this week is going to be interesting- i have a lot going on! hopefully i will have some good news in the next few days.

new memories.

what a great weekend. the weather was perfect, i was finally able to spend some quality time with the girlfriends and family, and i had two full days at the beach. what more could you ask for.

on friday night, a few of my girlfriends came out to the hamptons. on saturday, after a few full hours at the beach, we took a ride out to montauk point.

sunday, i spent the whole day with my parents. i could not tell you the last time either of my parents had stepped foot on the beach (it has been years!), but we all decided to go down to the beach yesterday. on our way home, we grabbed some local corn from the farm stand and had dinner on the back deck.

and now, it is monday. i can only hope for more amazing memories this coming week.

this past weekend, we celebrated my cousin's grandma's 90th birthday. family from all over came to celebrate grandma's birthday. it was great! filled with great company, good food and even a butterfly release.

this past week back in new york has been absolutely wonderful.  i have already been able to do a lot of the things that i have wanted to do and have already made so many new memories. this past weekend was not only was it my first weekend back in the united states, it was a friend's wedding. it was such a great end to the first week back. oddly enough, it does not feel as if three years has gone by.

i have been in shimane prefecture staying with my grandparents for the past few days. for those of you who are not familiar with japanese geography, don't feel bad. most japanese don't even know where shimane is. (in case you are interested, it is about an hour plane ride west of tokyo, on the sea of japan.)

it has been wonderful to relax and spend some quality time with the family. being here reminds me of my childhood and it was a great way to spend my last full week here. i spent a lot of time looking at old family photos, talking to family and soaking it all in.
